I first met Walt during my freshman year when I asked him for help in planning a class trip to Ocracoke Island. Over the following 4 years, we became good friends. He is the kind of professor that you just want to talk to because he's funny, extremely nice and personable, intelligent and makes you feel smart too. We had a lot of fun just shooting the breeze at Global Village when we were supposed to be getting work done in meetings. He is one of the few professors who I still keep in touch with and I am very happy to hear that he received this award. Adam Rush
Each year, the Alumni Association honors 18 faculty members who have excelled in teaching, research and extension. We give them monetary awards and celebrate their achievements at a dinner held in their honor.
We would like to ask you to tell us why these faculty members are special to you. Perhaps they pointed you down a particular career path, developed your critical thinking skills or took the time to get you back on track in a particular discipline. Tell us your story!
