Rusty always did a great job in interacting with his students, bringing the application of the material to the forefront, and getting everyone engaged. His willingness to help on an individual level was unique. I appreciate all he did during my time working my way towards a BSIE degree in '89.
I took quality control courses from Doctor King in both undergrad and grad school at NCSU. He has an uncanny way of connecting with students that I rarely experienced at my time at State. He was willing to work with students out of class to help them learn subject matter, and he is a big reason why I am so successful today. Thanks Dr. King,

Each year, the Alumni Association honors 18 faculty members who have excelled in teaching, research and extension. We give them monetary awards and celebrate their achievements at a dinner held in their honor.
We would like to ask you to tell us why these faculty members are special to you. Perhaps they pointed you down a particular career path, developed your critical thinking skills or took the time to get you back on track in a particular discipline. Tell us your story!

Dr. King had a profound impact on my education and I'm grateful for his individual guidance.
